What Is It?
An advanced training in leading interactive Bible studies
in a small group setting. Limited to 9 people. This training is done at
our Pastors Conference and in any church that would like it.
Goals
- To provide personalized training for small group leaders
to lead interactive Bible study in a small group setting.
- To expose small group leaders to the breadth and depth
of Jesus' love as seen in the Gospels.
- To give a vision for small group leadership.
How Does The Training Work?
- Each participant will teach a lesson in 35 minutes. The
lesson will be assigned by e-mail after registration. Participants receive
the benefit of preparing a lesson, teaching a lesson, seeing 6-8 other
styles of leading, and observing an experienced teacher.
- Following each lesson, the leader will give each participant
a brief verbal evaluation to highlight their strengths and weaknesses.
By listening to one another's evaluation, everyone benefits.
- Interspersed throughout the training are brief teaching
times on vision for small groups, solving problems in interactive Bible
study, and tips for leading small groups.
Short Teaching Topics Covered by Leader
- A Vision for Small Groups
- Integrity and Authenticity
- Problems in Interactive Teaching
- An Overview of Love
- Including Non-Christians
- Prayer in Small Groups
Who Should Attend?
- Current or potential small group leaders.
- Pastors wanting training in leading a small-group, interactive
Bible study.
Churches can use this to launch a small group ministry,
improve the skills of their current, or train just one person who could
train other small group leaders.
How Does a Participant Prepare?
- After registering, you will be notified by email which
lesson you will teach. Then download the Small
Group Leader Training Instructions. These include general teaching
instructions and an Evaluation Form.
- Read the downloaded material, the chapter in Love
Walked Among Us that corresponds with your assigned lesson, and
the lesson itself. You will need to spend at least a couple of hours
preparing.
- Prior to the seminar, do a dry run teaching the lesson
to a group of 2-3 friends who can give you feedback. The more prepared
you are the more you'll be able to focus on the people in your group.
