The PrayerLife study is not for victorious Christians, but for Christians who often find themselves defeated in the trenches.
Here is what seminar participants are saying about the study: "Being a pastor's son I find myself knowing 'of' things, but not
knowing things. Prayer being one of them and some of the ways that you
phrased things and put it in practical, simple terms helped me to begin
to see the 'how' instead of the 'what'." A powerful illustration of how prayer should be interlaced throughout
my life! After years of spiritual stagnation, I feel that the reorientation
of my mind to prayer will renew and revive my prayer life and cause me
to see the Fathers work in my life more prominently. Paul Miller
is a gifted master teacher, illustrator and communicator. "Personally, you pushed me back into journalingsomething that
really helps me connect with my Father but had gotten sqeezed out of my
life due to what seems like ever-increasing pressure to do, serve, work,
figure out, fix and also because of discouragement, weariness. As I thought
more deeply about some of what you were saying it truly was the comfort
that you've received from Jesus in your sufferings flowing over and encouraging
me and helping me in mine." It helped to turn the search light on my life. Now
I can come boldly to the throne and put all my hang-ups and faults out
there so I can be helped. "This has been an area in my life of insecurity--I
was unsure how to come to my Father. This seminar has taught me how to
have a real conversation with my Father and a desire to want to do it.
Thank you." Other comments from seminar participants: "[The study] helped to clarify that the answer is not a formula or a great work, but an acceptance and experience of being a child before the living God. I learned how to pray to God as if I am in His lap, and no matter what I say He is there to listen unconditionally. I found the freedom to pray without any expectations on myself or judgments from God. I learned practical ways to put prayer into practice. Prayer has been something Ive known about all my life. But now I see it in a whole new way. Changing from the methodical, traditional prayer to an open, honest time of coming before Christ and laying at His feet as I am--broken, tired, and in need of Him. Thank you. I remember often what you said: We look at the inadequacy of our prayers and feel discouraged. God looks at the adequacy of His Son and delights in even our weakest prayers. I cant tell you how many times those words have given me courage to pray. "I loved the down-to-earth honesty about what keeps us from praying. I received intensely practical advice and application. The prayer times were great!" |
